Host Only Networking for Soalris10 Guest

VirtualBox Version: 4.0.8

Host OS (Problem seen on Windows Vista and Ubuntu11.04 hosts)

Guest OS: Solaris 10
Guest Addtions 4.0.8 installed on the Solaris Guest

Problem I have seen is that when I create a host only adapter for the guest it is not seen by the Solaris Guest:

ifconfig -a

on guest does not list the adapter.

ifconfig vboxnet0 plumb

returns

 ifconfig: cannot open link "vboxnet0": DLPI link does not exist

By way of checking I have installed a linux guest VM on each of the hosts and these pick up the vboxnet adapters with no problem.

I have tried iterating through each of the emulated NIC types for the host only adapter as configured on the host .

All to no avail.

Am I missing some additional configuration step that is only required for Solaris guests?
