I am using VirtualBox on Ubuntu Gutsy, and have Windows XP Home as Guest system.

A drive (NTFS partition) is shared through Ubuntu and beeign accessed with the Guest. Problem is with DreamWeaver CS3, that the pathnames in Dreamweaver appear all CAPITAL, and will therefor be save dincorrectly on the server. A directory 'administrator' will be recreated as 'ADMINISTRATOR' on my ftp-server.

How do i get the pathnames to display correct in the guest operating system (XP) ??

Which version of VirtualBox is that? I remember we fixed some bug regarding the case of file names in 1.5.2 or 1.5.4.

I am using 1.5.4

The thing is, that Dreamweaver CS3 shows the title in CAPS, but the uploads to the server are sometimes in all in CAPS and sometimes correct.

Additionaly, but i am not sure if that is VirtualBox, dreamweaver just totally freezes in teh VirtualBox Session, but the session itself is responsive... have to CTRL-ALT-DELETE dreamweaver and start it again....

I experience the same freezes with Dreamweaver;
most often it does that when rescanning site cache,
site is located on shared folder.
Host OS: Ubuntu Gutsy, Guest OS: XP SP2 with all updates
Guest RAM 512Mb
Same with Dreamweaver 8, 9, Virtualbox 1.5.0 OSE, VirtualBox 1.5.6 Closed

I have to add what if I'm using Samba shares fro Dreamweaver the freezing doesn't happen. Have to be something with VirtualBox shared folders.

This would be a question for the gentoo folks since this is their build and not VirtualBox.org

Same issue exists on a DIFFERENT Linux distro above so I feel it IS a VB issue... There is a ticket associated with the issue as well.
I will post there as well but it seems to me I am getting the "shove-off, not my problem" here... :?

Not a shove off but a suggestion. Issues with gentoo are not supported here I don't care what they are. If you are the gentoo maintainer & want to pursue this then by all means go for it, but you would need to contact the DEVs about it. Of course I could have just left you wondering and said anything but to be honest, that would have been worse IMHO.

Ok... I found a workaround. If you specify the FULL Network path instead of the Mapped drive to the Network path then the file paths casing stays as on the native network file path casing :P

i.e. \\VBOXSVR\Shared\Workspace\Servers\Dreamweaver\DEV-Site1\webapps\etc.. vs. E:\Workspace\Servers\Dreamweaver\DEV-Site1\webapps\etc..

Works now... SO this informs me that there IS an issue with the VBOX Guest Addons for mapping a network drive and maintaining the file path casing as defined by the host OS...

Solves my issue for now but I believe it should be fixed to ensure others do not have to trudge through the mess I have for the past week trying to figure out what is going on!
