Windows NT 4.0 spinning?

Hi,
I'm running Windows NT 4.0 Workstation as a guest using the PUEL VirtualBox on Gentoo. The virtual machine is configured to have two processors (which Windows NT did pick up and switch to its SMP kernel for), and Intel virtualisation extensions for my host are enabled.
Currently, Windows NT spins 100% of two of my four cores during use, even when the guest appears to be idling. I did read about Windows 98 guests doing this where ACPI is not installed here. However, I believe Windows NT 4 does support ACPI, so proper idling should work, yes?
Has anyone else used Windows NT 4 as a guest? Did you notice the host CPU usage and/or 'fix' it?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
