Hello,

I'm trying to connect a Microsoft LifeCam Cinema Web camera to my Ubuntu 11.04 on VirtualBox 4.0.8 r71778. My host is Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate.

When I right-click the little usb connector icon at the bottom of my VirtualBox Ubuntu Window I get a menu that reads Microsoft [0105] and I click it to virtually connect the device to Ubuntu, I get the following error:

Code: Select all

Component:
HostUSBDevice
Interface:
IHostUSBDevice {173b4b44-d268-4334-a00d-b6521c9a740a}
Callee:
IConsole {515e8e8d-f932-4d8e-9f32-79a52aead882}
Callee RC:
E_INVALIDARG (0x80070057)
I also tried running the VBoxManage list usbhost command and also receive an error:

Code: Select all

Host USB Devices:

UUID:               aa00068a-ade9-48ad-9eda-2ca99bd4e581
VendorId:           0x045e (045E)
ProductId:          0x00db (00DB)
Revision:           1.115 (01115)
Manufacturer:       Microsoft

VBoxManage.exe: error: Code RPC_E_SERVERFAULT (0x80010105) - The server threw an exception: "COMGETTER(Product)(bstr.asOutParam())" at line 716 of file VBoxManageList.cpp
Additionally note that I have added a usb filter via the settings menu:
Name: Microsoft [0105]
Vendor ID: 045e
Product ID: 075d
Revision: 0105
Manufacture: Microsoft
Product
Serial No.:
Port
Remote: No

Thank you,

I have the exact same problem here. I use Win7 64bit in a Win7 64bit Virtualbox.

No clue to get this working.

Does it have something maybe to do with my using a 64-bit host?

4 years later and I wonder did anyone here ever solve this? I'm passing a ms lifecam cinema webcam to a linux guest and it doesn't work in the guest, but works fine in the host.
If this was never solved can anyone recommend a decent webcam that will work with a virtualbox guest?
