Upgrading to W7 SP1 fails.

Has anybody experienced a similar problem? A while ago I installed W7 and have kept up with all the Updates and Security Essentials with no errors. However,
SP1 will not install.
If you tell me that "This is not a Virtual Box Problem" then obviously I must look elsewhere, but seems strange nevertheless.

I would say that "This is not a VBox problem" as I have two PC's at home running W7 and neither of these will upgrade to SP1. I have tried all the fixes I can find on the web but still they refuse. I'm convinced the problem is down to anti-virus software or some other application that is installed as I have had no problem upgrading to SP1 on fresh installs.
Sorry I can't help you further.

I have to agree. I have installed SP1 on several Win 7 and 2008 R2 virtual machines without any problem. It is much more likely to be something installed on the Win7 which is blocking the install. As mentioned, third party antivirus will often block an install.

I remember having read about problems with SP1 if the active partition is set to the wrong part of the disk. Did you create any partitions in your VM and does the wrong partition have the "Active" Flag?

Cheers,

Many thanks for the replies. I did not create any partitions on the virtual HD and the only anti-virus software running is Microsoft Security Essentials. I better not add any more then on this subject as we will probably end up on a "charge" by the moderator for discussing non VB problems! Thanks again anyway and I will try a native installation as soon as I can.
