Hi, Ive been using XP in virtual box for a while now and now i want to install Windows 95.
After making a boot disc and taking ages to turn it into a Floppy disc image, I now have to create a partition on the virtual HDD but It doesn't seem to have a drive letter.
A:/ is the floppy disc image, B:/ is another Floppy disc drive, and R:/ seems to be my host's DVD drive. But It cant recognize the Virtual HDD.
Is there a way around this or is there an easier method that im not aware of?
Clean Install of Win 95

There isn't really much you can do with Win95 because it does not have any guest additions. Have you read the tutorial on Win98?

You need to install DOS first, with a CD drive, then manually run the Setup program on the CD... but you claim that you can already see the CD drive, so you must have done the DOS install already?cast4 wrote:A:/ is the floppy disc image, B:/ is another Floppy disc drive, and R:/ seems to be my host's DVD drive. Anyway, you need to run the DOS utility "fdisk" to put a primary partition on the C drive, then "format c: /s" once that's done to format it. Don't make the drive too large.
Incidentally, I wish people would think first, and ask questions in the proper forums. You had a question about a Win95 guest, you ought to have asked it in the "Windows Guests" forum, or maybe "Other Guests" if you define Windows as meaning NT era only. "Using VirtualBox" is about questions about (say) using the VBox GUI, i.e. driving the software itself as opposed to issues with a guest or host.

My apologies for posting in the wrong place, Im new here.
Yep, Fdisk solved the problem. Thanks. Windows installed without a hitch and I didn't encounter any graphics problems like phelan's 98 installation.
