Fedora 15: Seamless mode is completely broken

Post by gblues »

With the recent release of Fedora 15, I downloaded a copy to check out. Mainly, I wanted to see Gnome 3 shell in action myself. The live CD booted without issue, and the Guest Additions installed successfully (after doing some package updating/downloading to get the compiler and kernel tools installed). The new Gnome 3 interface worked beautifully.

Then I tried activating Seamless mode.

Now, I didn't really expect the "Activities" button to be visible or to work properly, but I at least hoped that a running foreground application should still become seamless. No such luck. When I entered seamless mode, the only thing visible was the VirtualBox toolbar at the top of the screen.

On the plus side, it doesn't crash the guest at all--exiting Seamless Mode restores the guest to normal view perfect.

Running a guest with 3D enabled in seamless mode has always been a problem. Add Gnome 3 to the mix, well.... you see where I am going.
