Routing GUEST display to one of the CONSOLE windows

Post by rallcorn »

Years ago, when you had to "pay for it", I purchased VMWare for my LINUX box. I installed the software on LINUX and then created what then was the defacto workstation, a Windows 98se "guest" system! It worked great! I could launch the image and then minimize it and toggle between my main console X screen (tty7) and the 2nd unused console screen (tty8) where the Windows 98se appeared!

This was wonderful because it looked like I was running Windows 98se on my tower system! In reality, I was running LINUX. The HOME DIRECTORY was shared across the internal network between the two, and the WIndows 98se session had the "My Documents" folder mapped to my "documents" folder in my LINUX home directory! The data was the same, where I was working!

This was fantastic to me!

Now, I cannot even get VMWare to work in my openSuSE LINUX environment ... something to do with compiling issues ... so I tried out VirtualBox. Man was I impressed! For a "FREE" ... OpenSource product, this is fantastic!

I do have one request:

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND HOW TO RE-DIRECT THE DISPLAY OF THE GUEST OS TO CONSOLE SCREEN #8 (tty8) ?
