Independent snapshots planned?

Hello,
unfortunately, the snapshots aren't fully independent to each other, e.g. you can't delete the "baseline" (the first snapshot) if there are several others created after this one.
This is very annoying since the snapshots are working flawlessly for me and if I want to e.g. update the guest additions, I have to delete all other snapshots to update my clean first snapshot.
Are there independent snapshots (like the ones of VMware) planned at some time?
