By the way there is a way to slow down the amount of updates. Look in the settings of the guest. Most of them you can tell how often to check for updates , although I prefer to get them as soon as possible especially if they are for security.
To be honest, the only reason why I use Ubuntu is because many open source programs dislike Windows, and have installation difficulties with it. I don't think Calligra installs on Windows at all without virtualization.
Furthermore, I do like the relatively painless installation of most packages... (except for ones which
specifically ask for Oracle's jdk. Then I get into apt-get and all these crazy things

)
I too, prefer to install security updates quickly. However, how is it possible that they seem to have a release every day?! Hardly 12 hours goes by without another 50+ updates coming in, which, of course, needs to pop up in my face.
