Having problems with a windows 98 guest

Post by greedyiguana »

I recently backed up an old hard disk with windows 98 on it using Disk2VHD, and put it into vbox just to mess around with it.

It boots fine (without any error messages) but then it gets to the Windows 98 splash screen with the blue color gradient scrolling by on the bottom and just stays there forever. The blue bar is constantly moving smoothly, so it's not frozen per se, but it never actually boots into the OS as far as I can tell. The indicators at the bottom imply that no hard drive activity is taking place, and nothing else is blinking either.

Is this a known problem, with some kind of fix?

Thanks!
