Hama USB bluetooth seen as a keyboard.

Post by snblg »

Hello.

I'm using Ubuntu, but from time to time, I need a Windows software (Sunny Explorer).
So, I installed VirtualBox 4.0.6r71344 with the virtualBoxExtension Pack.

I use a usb bluetooth device to send/receive data.
(Hama 00049229)
It works under Linux with my Nokia and Wammu.

VirtualBox thinks this device is a keyboard.
Is there a way to solve this problem ?

Thanks in advance.

What do you mean "it thinks it's a keyboard"? Do you mean it's detected as a HID-compliant device? That's normal, that's what bluetooth is.

Hello Sasquatch

Image

The bluetooth is detected as the Lite On Technology Keyboard [0114]
If I do activate it, I cannot use my real keyboard any more.

If I remove the Hama USB bluetooth key, then the first line "Lite On tech..." disappears.

This is why I say VirtualBox thinks it is a keyboard, not a bluetooth device.

That's probably because you use the BT adapter for your keyboard, and the keyboard is always connected. Since that is the case, it would then identify itself as a bluetooth keyboard. What happens if you disconnect your keyboard from the stick? I hope your mouse isn't on it as well, because the identification could then switch to your mouse.
Either way, your BT can only be used by one system and if the Host needs it for input, you will never be able to send it to the VM without loosing your input devices.

Now, things have changed: the virtual Xp tells me that the buletooth key is a BCM92045B3 ROM device (probably a memory stick)
( it disappears and reappears when I connect / remove it)

Xp is a fresh install from a genuine Xp cd from my previous computer. There is only one softawre installed on it: Sunny Explorer + all windows updates (a lot !!!)

I do not have any more problems with the keyboard.
yesterday, the usb keyboard appeared disappeared when i connected / disconnected my usb bluetooth adapter.

really strange.
