Hi,
I installed Ubuntu desktop 11 32-bit in virtual box v4.0.6. Bumped up video memory to the full 128MB, and system memory 2GB. However, unless I choose the Ubuntu Classic (no effect), all other Ubuntu desktop environment would cause the display to freeze. Is there anyway I can configure it to use even more video memory? Thanks

Re: ubuntu GUI freezes up
It's not the amount of vRAM that is the issue 32MB is more that adequate. Make sure that you have install the 4.0.6 guest additions (in the guest) and that 3D acceleration is enabled in the guest settings.

Re: ubuntu GUI freezes up
That is what I have on there, but the GUI freezes up unless I use ubuntu classic (no effects). Also, the entire VM would randomly freeze and I had to force shut down. Not sure what is going on. Any more information would be appreciated.

Re: ubuntu GUI freezes up
Most likely it is an issue with the host video adapter or drivers. I would try to update to the newest drivers on the host.
