Hi community,
I'm trying to analize how feature i need when installing Oracle VM Virtualbox 4.0.6.
There are the features of installer:

-Virtualbox Application
--Virtualbox USB Support
---Virtualbox Networking
---Virtualbox Bridged Networking
---Virtualbox Host Only Networking
-VirtualBox Python Support

The first and the last ( VirtualBox Application - VirtualBox Python Support ) i think is the core of the app,
but i don't understand how Python Support is 0Kb.

If I remove from installation "Virtualbox USB Support" and "Virtualbox Networking" the software don't install any driver or virtual usb/networking, but VirtualBox seems working fine.

If I'm doing i full installation, the software install this driver:

Oracle Corporation Controller USB
Oracle Corporation Networking Service
Oracle Corporation Networking Adapter (VirtualBox Bridged Networking Driver Miniport)
Oracle Corporation Networking Adapter (VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter)

If i dont't need a USB controller feature in guest, i can disable it in custom installation.

But i don't now how networking i need:
The host pc connect to internet only by a pci wifi adapter. The guest is Windows 7 x64
I have to share internet connection and the folder in host-guest system

So i have to install "Virtualbox Bridged Networking" or "Virtualbox Host-Only Networking"?
I don't think i need them together.

If you need Host <> Guest network sharing, you need the Host-Only adapter, or the Bridged adapter type. You need a router for the latter, but I guess you do because you use wifi only.
If the share is only Host > Guest, then you don't need the network part, as NAT provides internet and sharing can be done through Shared Folders, but one way also works with NAT.

Just check chapter 6 of the User Manual.

I can share file to Guest / Guest can share file to me (Sharing Folder)
Guest can connect to internet

NO Networking, only integrated NAT in virtualbox
I can share file to Guest / Guest CAN`T send file to me (Sharing Folder)
Guest can connect to internet

In any case i don't need bridge networking ( no router on my pc, only wifi )

You can use Bridged, because you do have a router. It doesn't have to be your Host that acts as a router, it must be a different device. The meaning of a router is that it's a border device between the internet and all your systems. See it like this: you have your PC hooked up to another one that acts as a router. Your VM will be a second PC that you hook up to the router as if it's a second PC. So instead of one machine on the router, you have two.

You really don't get it, do you? Your PC IS NOT the router and does NOT HAVE to be one. Please, grab a book about networking and get yourself familiar with it. I do this in my spare time and it feels like I'm talking to a wall here. I just explained how and what your options are.

Don't feel bad. I am trying to help you, but this barrier in knowledge makes it hard to do it. Once you understand networking better, you will have an "ah, so that's how it works"-moment.

I know you want help me and i'm thank you for this. The really problem is my "technical" english.
I know what is a router, I was just saying that my PC is not physically connected to the modem router with a UTP cable connection but only with wifi adapter.

So I just wanted to know what to install or not to share the internet connection and folders.

It doesn't matter if your cable is physical or virtual, they provide the same functionality: network connectivity. Don't be confused by the way VB works, it can't emulate wireless interfaces or send physical hardware to the VM, so you only see wired interfaces there.

Ok, VM can't emulate hardware.
So what i need to install for a correct configuration?

Bridge config i think is better then NAT. The guest pc connect directly to my router, as same way my pc. With this config you need a router.

Nat have some limit (VPN -Windows file sharing )

But i can use the Internal networking? With this method i can create a sort of LAN for host-guest. The guest not connect directly to router but my pc bypass all traffic. With this method i don'have to install bridge+host-only. What do you think?

The last is Host-only networking...is a hybrid and i don't think i need it.

So what should I choose?

Internal is for Guest to Guest communication. If you want Host-Guest, you need Host-Only or bridged. Your bridge will work just fine if you select your wifi adapter. The VM will 'ride' on the Host connection and represent itself as a separate machine on the network. With bridged, it doesn't matter where the router is, as long as it's in your network somewhere and you use it to connect to machines outside your network, like the internet.

I hope you understand what you have now.

Understood, internal is guest-guest and i don't need it.
I will install bridge config and deselect the host-only connection. With the bridge network i hope everything goes fine.
