I am building a Car PC system and want to create virtual machines so that each passenger has its own environment. Originally I was playing with VMplayer, which was able to use all my USB devices flawlessly, but problem is, when I would shut down then restart the VMs, the USB devices did not stick. That meant I have to keep assigning devices to the VM which is a huge hassle.
I then came across VirtualBox and was amazed at the install speed and how fast the OS (Win XP) ran. Startups and shutdowns are fast and its easy to use. Now here is where I am running into major issues. The setup has 6 soundcards, 1 onboard soundcard and 5 USB soundcards. In VMplayer, I was able to see them in the soundcard selection area, with VirtualBox I only see onboard. If I try to add the USB soundcard under USB options, I get an error. The other issue is mouse and touchscreen assignment. With VMplayer, I was able to lock a specific touchscreen and or mouse or any USB device within the VM. With VirtualBox I cant seem to figure out how to do that.
Any help would be appreciated.
New user and need help.

Thanx Stefan.becker,
I seem to be having another issue. I was able to assign the USB audio and the mouse, but the mouse is invisable. i can click around the desktop and it does things, but I can not see it. I have tried playing with the VM graphics memory and other options, but can not find it. Any ideas?

Mouse and Keyboard dont work via USB. They work, because of VBOX is an X Program.

Maybe I shouldnt worry about it. All the VMs will have touchscreens, so I guess it doesnt matter.stefan.becker wrote:Mouse and Keyboard dont work via USB. They work, because of VBOX is an X Program.
