Hey guys,
I am currently running a Windows 7 x64 host and installing a Linux Mint 32 bit guest. The problem I am having is that after the installation (which goes fine) and installing VBoxGuestAdditions (which also works fine) I have been getting some graphical errors that do not occur in a similar standard Ubuntu 32 bit guest. For instance, I have a dual monitor setup, which I will usually use as one for the host and one for the guest. In Ubuntu, when I am doing something in the guest, and click over to do something on the Windows host, I click on the other monitor, type something, and everything looks fine. In Linux Mint however, when I click over to do some work in the host, the entire screen turns black, preventing me from seeing what I was working on in the guest system. Furthermore, when I click back, the only part that gets refreshed and stops showing just a pure black screen is whatever window I clicked on to make active. To refresh the whole screen, I have to do something like click and drag one window into every part of the screen. And this happens every time I switch focus from guest to host which is actually quite a lot.
Does anybody have an idea of what might be causing this problem? Or how to fix it?
Thanks!

Re: Linux Mint install with graphics problems
This usually happens when compositing is enabled in the guest. Try disabling that and see if it helps.

Re: Linux Mint install with graphics problems
i have a similiar problem.
If is us LMDE or Linux Mint 10 full screen, the little VBox menu, which is usually at the bottom, disappears.
If i want to minimize the VirtualBox Windows i always have to switch to WindowMode via "HOST-F" and minimize.
And back via "HOST-F" again, to switch to full screen.
In that case i also get a black screen, just some random spots at the screen, usually where my mouse is o smt will be displayed.
If i change desktop via "Ctrl+Alt+LEFT" everything will be displayed again.
edit: i think i have to say, that i us compiz. im also not shure what compositing is?!
but, everytime i used some ubuntu version in a VBox, i got non of these problems, also with full desktop effects activated?!
