I'm a newbee at this. I loaded a fedora 14 VDI image from http://virtualboxes.org/images/fedora and configured a VM trying not to go off any well-worn paths (running on winxp host). The first thing I did after logging in was to open a terminal and I quickly discovered that some of the keys on the right side of my lenovo T60 laptop weren't producing the correct result. The problem keys are these: /;'[]\-=

They're producing some other characters that I'm unfamiliar with. I tried connecting a PS2 keyboard to the laptop and the results were identical.

Is this a problem with the VDI or is there some configuration that I need to change?

Why would you think this is an issue with VirtualBox?
More than likely the issue is the turnkey install and the differences in the keyboard layout. You may be able to fix this by selection the proper keyboard in the guest.

I quess the sad truth is that I'm fishing. I first tried what I thought were the obvious things. KDE has a System Settings tool that sets the locale to the US (that's what I want) and similar settings for number system, money, time/date, etc. It also has a keyboard settings tool that let's me configure the keyboard. That tool even includes my specific laptop as an option. I tried setting these and nothing changed until, after your response, I went back again to the the keyboard layout and decided to add a layout for the US. That solved the problem. Thanks.
