windows server 2003 and Oracle Linux enterprise edition

hi all
i am using windows 7 and on windows 7 i have installed
VirtualBox and in virtualBox i have two OS one is oracle linux and other is windows server 2003 R2 64bit.
i have problem with base memory if i extend base memory to 3GB or 4GB then
its stucking and the black screen comes over it.
i have 8GB ram so i was thinking to share 3GB memory to windows server 2003
because there i have installed Application server 10R2
but its very slow to boot and startup all programs.
my question how can i extend memory for virtualBox up to
3GB?
