Okay, I know this has been asked before, but listen.
I cannot seem to figure out how to connect a USB 2.0 modem to a Windows NT Server 4.0 guest OS, and be able to go on the internet.
The host OS is WinXP, by the way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: USB modem on NT 4 guest OS?
NT4 does not support USB and never did, so it is unlikely it will ever work. You may be able to find really old 3rd party drivers but don't hold your breath.

Re: USB modem on NT 4 guest OS?
Just in case I didn't understand you properly and you are try to use it through the host. If the host has a connection all you should need to do is set the network mode to NAT. If it is going to work that is all you need to do. But the key here is the host must be connected.

Re: USB modem on NT 4 guest OS?
I'm trying to use it through the host, and have tried it with the host connected, though it doesn't seem to work. I've got the VM open now, could you give me some steps?

Re: USB modem on NT 4 guest OS?
With the host connected, and the guest set to NAT. Start the guest and click run then enter cmd and press enter.
type ipconfig /all and post the results here.
Also
From the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use "" if the name has a space in it.
Note if the host is Windows you need to be in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for the command to work.

Here's what it said:
I couldn't get that second command to work, what would "Windows NT Server" need to be typed as?

Re: USB modem on NT 4 guest OS?
read what I wrote carefully. You did the ipconfig /all in the XP host and I need it from the NT guest
VBoxManage showvminfo "Windows NT Server" --details
But read the instructions carefully. you must do this in a command window in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for it to work.
