Running starcraft on a XP guest

Hi. I have some questions regarding running starcraft (not sc2, the 1998 release) in my guest OS(windows XP pro). The host is windows 7 pro.

The issue is, the display driver of my laptop no longer support a 640x480 resolution (the minimum supported is 800x600). But Starcraft insists and won't start if it cannot set the resolution to 640x480.
So, I tried to run it in the VM. When the game start, it successfully set the resolution to 640x480, and as a result leave a black frame outside the gaming window.

I wonder if virtualbox has a feature that, while maintain resolution in both host and guest, magnify the content of the guest so it will occupy the entire screen?

I have installed the guest-addition and tried my best in google and manual but still no answer.
Thanks. -Donghai

I dont know. But what happens if you run it in a window and maximize the window?

Whatever you do you just cannot get the content larger except you change the resolution of host display. If you resize(enlarge) the VM window, you just got black area around the game content.

I can tell you one small secret: Use "starcraft-chaoslauncher" -- it has built in scaled mode x2 + Windowed mode.

I often use this when I play SC1 in VBox.
