[FIXED] linux-image-2.6.35-28-virtual kernel doesn't boot

Hello,

I'm running VirtualBox 4.0.4 on a Windows 7 Professional 64 bits host. I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop 64 bits as a guest OS. I'm trying to configure my guest OS to get the best possible performance. I've read that the linux-virtual kernel should improve Ubuntu's performance when running through virtualization.

If I select the virtual kernel (linux-image-2.6.35-28-virtual) in the boot menu the OS doesn't boot. However, if I select the non-virtual kernel (linux-image-2.6.35-28) the OS boots as expected.

Is this a know issue? I couldn't find much information in the forum related to linux virtual kernels.

Thanks,

Matthieu Siggen

Based on this http://askubuntu.com/questions/18593/wh ... ing-on-esx I believe that I should keep the generic kernel as I'm going to use the machine to run UI enabled applications (eg. eclipse, netbeans, etc.).

I plan to use the links below to optimise my installation as best as I could:
