Problems with Oracle Linux 6

Post by ptaq »

I need to install Oracle Linux as a host system in VirtualBox on Windows 7 Unfortunately, the computer system in general does not begin to start again. Hangs at the very beginning. I tried to install on another computer (also Windows 7 and virtualbox 4.0.4 so all the same) the system started and it worked ok. I moved the system installed on my computer and still the same. GRUB appears and selecting a system continue to be suspended. What is the problem? Here i put the system log: http://wklej.org/id/513606/

Try it with IOAPIC enabled. Also, if that doesn't work, transfer the entire VM from the working machine to the non-working machine to rule out any configuration differences. You can add the machine using Machine > Add in the main VB GUI and point it to the .vbox file. I have no idea what the two guru meditations that occur mean.

I tried the IO APIC but still the same. The computer was running the entire virtual machine moved along with the settings.

Then there must be a difference in hardware between the two machines that cause this. Please state them (CPU, motherboard, everything). Please don't use the branded name if it's a Dell, HP or like that. They have various configs and we can't know which one you have.

You didn't give the specs of the other machine that does work, just the one that doesn't work. We need a better comparison here.

Try to disable SMX. It can cause problems when using hypervisors/virtual machines.

Yes agree, I did not give a description of the second computer because I had no access to it. I decided to write to Oracle's board and managed to run.
The problem was an option in the BIOS - EDB (Execute Disable Bit) was disable.
I turned on the EDB and the system started. Thank you for your willingness to help. Regards
