Win XP Pro 32 bit in Virtual box

I installed Ubuntu 64 bit on new pc, then copied all my files over including the WinXP.VDI File (after installing virtualbox). Got XP up and running. But noticed that networking was not working.

I thought it was a win driver issue as its a new MB and NIC on board, But no matter what PCNet, or INTEL setting I use under NAT it does not work. Will not install driver. I checked MB and got the correct driver for XP 32 bit.

On a whim I installed Mythbuntu inside virtualbox, and internet works on that. So I copied the NAT settings and NIC address to WinXP, still no internet. I have the correct NIC Driver. only thing I can think of is that XP has Service Pack 2. Maybe I need SP3? I am using gigabit driver. Have a 8 port gigabit switch. Ubuntu connects to internet as 1000 Mb/s.

Seems like Win XP issue. Driving me crazy at the moment.

In the VM lan settings, select something else then NAT, exit VBox, restart VBox and set it back to NAT, exit VBox, restart, VM should work now.
