Not having much luck getting network working, any help?

Hi guys
I have installed Virtualbox 4.0.4 and have installed a Solaris Guest system and I am trying to get network working but I ma not having much luck.
Here are some notes:
1 - The host OS will be moved between completely different networks relatively often (Including network with proxy behind it)
2 - I don't care about accessing the guest OS from outside
3 - I want to have internet access from the guest OS
4 - The guest OS has to have a static ip address due to applications installed in it requiring it.
Now from the notes 1, 2 and 3 I figured NAT is what I need because all other 3 types of network (Host-only, Bridged and Internal) will either not give me internet (Failing note 3) or will not work when I move the host OS to a completely different network (Failing note 1).
Also due to note 4 I think NAT is ideal because all other 3 would require me to change the guest OS network settings to the same network settings of the network I am sitting on which would force me to change IP.
The problem arises with note number 4. I have setup my solaris to ip 10.0.2.15, netmask 255.255.255.0 and default route to 10.0.2.2 but it seems that I still cannot get internet working, am I missing something? Could the fact that I am sitting behind a proxy (right now) be the issue? I made sure to configure the proxy in the browser of the guest OS but I am uncertani if there is anything that needs to be done on VB itself, I could not find any proxy configuration in the preferences.
Also before it gets mentioned, I read and re-read and re-read again chapter 6 and also chapter 9 but I am no network guru so maybe I am missing a point or misunderstood something.
Any help is welcome.
Regards
NooK
