sound recorder & Audacity on guest OS (XP) (AC97)

audacity and sound recorder won't record sound on the guest OS (XP pro) sound (AC97) if i try to record anything on the guest OS, the sound recorder and audacity doesn't pick anything up, in the guest OS I tried stereo mix, mono mix, aux, & video... none of those work, there is no sound in those two programs even though i play sound on the guest OS and the two programs are on the guest OS... nothing i try, will make those two program pick the sound up... how do i fix this no sound being recorded in guest OS bug?

I do have a similar problem with Windows 7 running on a Mac OSX host and tried to use JackOSX to bypass this problem. JackOSX is a virtual audio cable for OSX. Unfortunately I was not very lucky with this solution. I opened another thread for this http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=41174. Maybe someone has more information.
