I understand that VMWare does this easily, and I assume VirtualBox does as it's not simply stated anywhere. Could someone please clarify before I try? Thank you.
Has anyone tried using the VMWare converter, then opening with VirtualBox? That would be useful.

Then you can move the file from Windows to Linux. Possibly compress? Create new VirtualBox and choose the copied vdi as the hard disk when creating.VirtualBox Dir\VBoxManage clonevdi "Original-Target Dir\file.vdi" "Copy-Target Dir\file.vdi"
