VirtualBox refuses to save MY virtual machine path

Post by Remork »

... and rewrite it automatically -_-

Hi,

I downloaded the 4.0.4 portable version that can be found here : http://xxxxxxxxxx/

Except a bug that I fixed after a few researches (VB seems unable to manage more than 1500Mio of RAM per VM), I'm now confronted with a new bug, a tought one :

- My portable version is on a folder containing many portable application (see Liberkey), and so I want to store my VM on an other path to not dramatically increase the size of my portable softwares folder.
- Firstable I changed this path in the option, then created my VM and VirtualDisk, saved a snapshot, and restarted VB to see if all was working nicely.
- ... and at the reopening, Vb start to be unable to find my VM
- I've seen one or two topics on this forum talking about a system variable to specify where is the XML in wich is stored the VM path, but I didn't move it so I don't need to create this variable.
- I manually edited the XML while Vb was closed, and restarted it... and it rewrited the "defaultMachineFolder" line to specify E:\LiberKey\MyApps\VirtualBox\data\.VirtualBox\Machines, wich is the default path specified by the program.

My VM is stored in E:\TOOLS\VirtualBox. I want VB to seek in this path.

So anyone can help me, I'm going crazy.

The portable version is non-standard and is not supported here. Perhaps he does his own support?
