USB doesnot work with MAC X SL as host and Win7 as guest

Hello,
this is my first try here, so bare with me, if I may not get it right.
I had the latest VM 4.0.r running with Win XP and installed Win 7 parallel to it. SInce USB didnot work I deinstalled XP but still it doesnot work.
I installed the guest addition correctly and even tried an older version for I guess this it what doesnot work.
Of course I added the USB devices in the settings menu of VM etc.
When I click on the USB device at the lower right corner of the frame of the guest, it indicates that the USB device is recogniced and has a tag. The yellow context field says "captured" with all the USB devices I tried. There is also the sound of Win7 stating that the USB devices are plugged in or out. Yet, during installation of the drivers the installation always stops, whatever USB device I take and tells that it cannot finish installation due to some unknow problem. In the device mananger of Windows comes a yellow triangle saying that the USB device cannot be installed. Yet there are 2 USB drivers installed and working, namely the standard openHCD USB-Hostcontroller and the USB Roothub.
The Apple IR device has a tag, the Apple USB host controller doesnot and also gives a failure message when I want to put a tag to it, saying it cannot attach the unknown USB device to Win7.
Under XP everything went well with the same host OS and VM and Guestaddition.
Any idea?
