Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
Hi,
I'm unable to login at http://www.virtualbox.org, in order to update the bugtracker. Is anyone else having the same problem?
Password verification is working fine (bad passwords are detected), but login with correct password results in unauthenticated website page display.
I thought maybe it was the username (macrovita-erw), but a simpler username (edmarw) is having the same problem.

Oh, I've tried browsers Firefox 3.6, Google Chrome (4.x) and IE6. Same problem.

Re: Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
First, that is a website issue, not a "Using VirtualBox" issue. A better place for your comment would have been the "Feedback to moderators" sticky at the top of the "Suggestions" forum.
Addressing your issue anyway: the bugtracker site is separate from this one, you need to apply for a bugtracker account name and password if you want to post there.

Re: Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
Sorry I couldn't find a better place to mention the problem. I'm aware that website and forum registrations are separate.
The problem is preventing me from providing feedback on the bugtracker ( http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/7966 ), so I'd say it is preventing me from "Using VirtualBox" properly, which is why I didn't look into "Suggestions".
Anyway it'll probably get fixed soon. Thanks for your time.

Re: Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
I am able to logon to bugtracker and usually at least 4 times a day.
Can you elaborate a little on the error you receive? You do have a separate account there as well?

Re: Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
Thanks for your reply Perryg.
With the correct password, I get no explicit error, but it is as if the login has not been processed. The next page view does not appear authenticated (no "logged in as...", login link still showing). It is not just a webpage display error, the bugtracker informs I'm not authenticated (if I try "Create a new bug ticket" for example).
With an incorrect password, I get the usual "Error - Invalid username or password".
Just tried again on Firefox 3.6 and IE6 clearing cookies first, problem remains. Nothing changed here (I did not reinstall/upgrade my OS, etc.). I hope someone else finds the same problem. Otherwise I'll just try registering again in a few days (already tried once today with login edmarw, didn't work).

Re: Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
Should not matter what browser you are using. After you present your logon and password does it say you are logged in at the top right of the page?

Re: Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
After I present my logon and password, it does not say I am logged at the top right of the page. It continues showing the "Login Settings Register Help/Guide" links.
Oh, I have a separate account at the website. Actually I registered with the website first. I was able to update http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/7966 before (2011-04-04 22:24:52). I registered with the forum afterwards in order to report/ask for help about this problem.

Re: Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
I'm going to take a wild guess here and it is the only thing I can do. If you do not show you are logged in then it must be something wrong with the logon.
You can try to create a new logon but this would require a different email account, or you can report this to one of the Admins which are the only ones that can help you with the actual account.

Just to inform: Login at the bugtracker/website is working again! No changes here, but I was just able to login again.

Re: Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
Next time it happens, try different browsers. It may have been a caching problem, cookie issue, or some extension was misbehaving and got a recent update to address it.

Re: Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
In my view it really was a server problem. I tried browsers Firefox 3.6, Google Chrome (4.x), IE6, clearing cookies, etc., all to no avail. Today, with no changes at all from my side, it's just working again.

Re: Unable to login at virtualbox.org (bugtracker)
Oh, probably a server caching or extension problem, indeed...
