kubuntu 10.10 shutdown and reboot problem

When you shutdown or reboot the kubuntu 10.10 guest, the virtual machine hangs. when you close the virtual machine after that virtual machine hangs, the error message is displayed. when you forcibly reboot the virtual machine after that virtual machine hangs, gives no result. only when you terminate this virtual machine via task manager can close.

is it a bug or by design?
please help?

I have a KUbuntu 10.10 VM and no problems what you describe. Can you be a bit more specific as to what error message you see (maybe get a screenshot of it)? What are the VM settings? Guest Additions installed? What happens if you open Konsole and issue a 'sudo halt' or 'sudo shutdown -h now'?
