Simple questions but not for me!!

I'm new to VirtualBox. I've literally spent all day figuring out how to install my OS within the a VM and getting programs to run.

Now for the dumbest question of the day. How do I copy files from my computer's HD onto my VM's virtual HD so that I can open them in the programs I've loaded into my VM? I'm too exhausted to look through any more documnetation to find the info? Could someone please post a link to this most basic of questions?

Also trying to copy files from a flash drive. When I plug it in, VM is asking me for the location of the driver. I have no idea where that would be so I can't copy files from it either.

Also, how do I set-up connection to the Internet through my wireless router while in VM (Win2000)? I have no problem with the Internet when I'm in Win7.

Finally, I set-up my account with my primary e-mail address and received the activation link which I clicked on and successfully activated. Had to leave for about an hour and when I came back, I couldn't post any questions. I tried to re-login and got the following message: "The specified username is currently inactive. If you have problems activating your account, please contact a board administrator." I ended up having to create a new account using my seconday e-mail address. What's up with that?

Thanks for any help with these questions.

You need to think of the vm as a separate machine, not part of the host. The host OS will not see a USB in the host automatically (or other devices in the host, such as the hard disk or sound or video card). It has its own emulated devices.

You copy files from guest to host just as you would copy files from one computer to another on the same network - use network file sharing.

How does the host connect to the Internet? If you are on a home network with an Internet router you can use bridged mode and have the guest behave just like an additional computer on the LAN.

If all else fails, read the manual (Help or F1).
