I am having an issue with Zenwalk 7.0. I installed it in VB 4.0.4, added the kernelsource package then installed the guest additions. However, when I rebooted it did switch to full screen and mouse integration seems to be working but, the mouse is not pointing to where the actual pointer is. I assume I have to edit either the xorg.conf or xorg.conf.vbox files but I'm not sure what I need to do. the xorg.conf file doesn't have a mouse section but the xorg.conf.vbox file does. Which do I modify and how in order to get the mouse and the pointer in sync? thanks ahead of time.
p.s. it's difficult to do anything with the pointer not actually over what it's hovering. perhaps it might be easier to do it in the console?

Actually this is based on slackware IIRC. Anything you do to the xorg.conf my detract from the functions of VBox as far as auto-resize is concerned.

So are you saying there's nothing to be done? That I can't get the mouse to click on what it actually points at?

Not really. It is the same as slackware IIRC you should be able to get the mouse to work, but not too sure about the auto-resize. I have not tried zenwalk myself yet but check out This should help Howto: Install Linux Guest Additions + Xorg config and see if it gives you any help.

I guess I wasn't clear. The autosize works fine. the problem is, where you see the mouse pointer isn't where it clicks. It's actually about 100 pixels higher and to the left of where you see the pointer. so for example, if you want to click on the menu in the panel, you actually have to move the pointer down and to the right quite a bit and guess or wait for it to highlight. I do know they got rid of HAL altogether and are using Gio, whatever that is.Perryg wrote:Not really. I am writing this from Zenwalk 7. The only workaround this issue I've found is you have to dissable mouse integration and use Host key everytime when you want to go out of the os.

oops, I forgot I found the fix for this. well Zenwalk suggested it. I deleted the xorg.conf file entirely and all worked as it should. Take a snapshot first in case I forgot something.

Re: (Solved) Zenwalk 7.0 and 4.0.4 Guest Additions
as it turns out deleting the xorg.conf file fixed one problem and caused another. the clock was no longer working. I just updated to VB 4.1.0 and the clock now works but my mouse was not working again. as navique mentioned the best way it seems to fix the issue is to disable mouse integration.
