I tried to install VirtualBox 4.0.4 on Windows 7 64bit Professional host. Everything was fine, I could create a new guest OS (Debian 6.0),with a new virtual drive, and then tried to start my new debian, but I got the following error:
"Cannot access the kernel driver!
Made sure the kernel module has been loaded successfully."
And another one when opened configuration tab:
Failed to open the USB subsystem.
My computer spec.:
Gigabyte H57M-USB3 mainboard
I5 processor
8Gb RAM
NVidia graphic card
What can I do? (I've installed 4.0.0, then 4.0.2 both with extension pack, same error...)
Thanks:
Peter

Re: Windows 7 64 bit host, 4.0.4 cannot access the kernel driver
That was the first thing I did. I've tried many method without any success, like: 1. intall 4.0.2 2. reboot 3. intall 4.0.4 4. reboot. I've rebooted my pc 1000 times in the last few days. I have a Lenovo X201 notebook, also with i5, but only 4Gb RAM and Windows 7 32bit (not 64) Prof.. 4.0.4 runs fine on that host. Maybe this hall thing is because of 64bit wondows, or the relativly new config, I have no idea...

Re: Windows 7 64 bit host, 4.0.4 cannot access the kernel dr
I realize this is an old thread, but I'm wondering if this problem was ever solved? I'm glad it is an old issue, as I expect there must be an easy solution... I'm pretty stuck, so any help would be greatly appreciated! My environment is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Thanks!
