What had caused this?

Post by S-NESH »

Hello there,

All of a sudden, my virtual machine has something unusual today. Im running Windows 7 as my guess OS on ubuntu. And this is how it is when I switch on my guest OS.Image I tried restarting both guest and main OS but it doesnt seem to be back to normal. Why is it like this? What should I do to get it back to normal state? I hope somebody would be able to help me out. I have to get it back to resume my office work. Its all pending due to this.

Thanks :)

With Linux this often happens when something got updated on the Host, check such logfiles.

Unless you did something strange when uploading the pic, then that's a 16 color (4bpp) mode. Looks like it's lost its mode selection setting. The mind boggles that Win7 still supports this mode... though I suppose safe mode booting may need it.

Safe mode uses at least 256 colours (8 bit). If you're back to 16 colours, something is very wrong. I really wonder how you got it like this. I sure hope it wasn't caused by the GA, but you might want to remove it if you can't change the colour setting. Then install them again to see if you have the same problem, or if it's fine again.
