I suspect you can not connect iPad to a guest, because VirtualBox is not iPad aware yet.
I dont understand why? As I have understood it, you can give raw USB access to the guest - so the guest should be able to see iPad and connect? Why does not "raw USB access" work this way?
I remember iPod and iPhone, even though you gave raw USB access to the guest, VirtualBox could not access iPod and iPhone. VirtualBox needed to be reprogrammed. Why? Isnt the point of raw USB access to avoid situations like this?
iPad in guest?
Re: iPad in guest?

Re: iPad in guest?
VB and iPhones and iPod Touch go very well together. I've updated and synced my iPhone multiple times through VB because I don't have Windows as Host. As vbox4me2 said, there is no reason the iPad would fail. Only when you want to use the get-out-of-jail-free card, you will need a bare metal Windows.

Re: iPad in guest?
Why could you not connect an iPod/iPhone earlier? VB needed to be rewritten to support those. Even if you used raw USB access.

Re: iPad in guest?
What do you mean "earlier"? I was able to use my iPhone in VB ever since I got it more than a year ago (December 2009 to be precise). And I'm fairly confident you were able to connect an iDevice before then as well, if you have to believe the topics here that discussed that.

Re: iPad in guest?
I read in a new VB release something in the line of
"VB now supports iPod and iPhone"
Does my memory not serve me correctly?

Release notes are meaningless until you try it yourself.
