Hi, I have windows xp installed in a virtual box on ubuntu, and it used a shared folder (~/Public) so i can transfer files between windows and ubuntu.
From ubuntu I put a link to a folder in the shared folder. In windows I accidentally deleted that link to the folder, and for some reason it also deleted the actual folder aswell. The folder DID NOT go into either Ubuntu's recycle bin OR windows' recycle bin, I NEED the folder back, I'm trying data recovery software, but does anybody know of a way to get the folder back without data recovery software?
HUGE blunder in virtual box, please help!

Re: HUGE blunder in virtual box, please help!
There is no other way to get it back. Windows doesn't use the recycle bin when it's not on a local drive (e.g. USB disk, network share) and everything outside of the Linux DM will not go to the trash either. So only thing left is data recovery.
This just shows how important it is to make regular backups and be extremely careful with the removal of files, folders and links.
