I have been trying to figure out a window's XP crash problem with the loading of word perfect by using Explorer and selecting the files I want to load and then right clicking and selecting open option. this allows me to open word perfect with 6 to 9 files as it open up.

I wasn't sure when it started. but today I have it completely figured it out.

I shifted from version 3.2.12 to 4.0.2 In January. I had downloaded 4.0.0, but did not install. And As I setup a Virtual windows 7 for a Mac, I upgraded and installed 4.0.2 into both windows and the Mac.

My Word Perfect began to crash. I thought it might be a Windows problem and Reloaded only to continue to have the problem.

Then I reloaded again an started with window updates. That didn't help still had the problem, Then I started with guest editions.
I loaded a clean windows, word perfect version 12 and tried to load the files; it worked. I loaded the guest editions of 4.0.4 and it did not work.
Ok then, we; have a problem, so I loaded virtual box in the virtual machine started with 2.2.4., saved the guest editions to folder labeled 2.2.4, then I did the same for 3.0.0, then 3.1.2, then 3.1.4, then 3.2.10, then 3.2.12, then 4.0.0, then 4.0.2.

I reloaded windows, loaded work perfect version 12, and loaded guest addition 2.2.4. Worked fine; 3.0.0 worked fine; 3.1.2 Worked fine; 3.1.4 Worked fine

Then 4.0.2 it; Failed ----- It's something to do with the video driver. I loaded up another fresh windows loaded word perfect, then extracted the video driver out of 4.0.2 and 4.0.04 and tested both and they failed. So something in version 4.0.2 and 4.0.4 are both causing word perfect to lockup the Windows ZP guest with the video driver for those two versions.

Is this being worked on???

Or does this video problem only effect the Word Perfect version 12?

Where are the files located? on a VBox share?

The Video drivers fails and locks the XP SP3 guest (also a fresh loaded XP SP2 installed guest) with Word Perfect loaded into that guest, from either 4.0.2 guest additons or 4.0.4 guest additions. I loaded only the video drivers on the last check with a fresh loaded SP2 Windows XP.

as I wrote the above I realize you want to know where the word perfect wpd files are. they can be in my documents or on the network drive. it doesn't matter. I already tried that..

Because the GA and VBox shares are linked so anything going wrong in that area is also related, but if you don't use it, it doesn't matter.

I had a strange thing happen.

When the guest locks up, It causes the copy screen function to be locked up also. Alfter playing I was able to get a screen shot, I have to disable the intergration function by pressing the host key

I just downloaded version 4.06 and version 4.08

I started with 4.08 and installed the 4.08 guest additions. from windows explorer highliting the maxium of 9 word perfect files, and I opened them. They all opened and word perfect worked. No lockup

The problem in version 4.02 and version 4.04 is corrected for sure in version 4.08. I did not try version 4.06 will try later.
