guestcontrol execute - Debian Squeeze > WinXP - 4.0.4

Post by wiggly-ampt-mark »

Morning All,

Having trouble trying to use guestcontrol exec functionality, I can start the vm:
:~# VBoxManage startvm WindowsXP --type headless
At which point I can RDP into it and generally the VM seems to be fully functioning, yet when I go through the following:
:~# VBoxManage guestcontrol exec WindowsXP "cmd.exe" --username "root" --password "12345" --verbose
Waiting for guest to start process ...
VBoxManage: error: The guest execution service is not ready.
It never seems to be ready no matter how long I wait or manipulate the state of the VM itself. Anyone got any ideas?

P.S Love the software in general, excellent work VirtualBox team!
