I have host OS: Ubuntu 10.04 and two guest OS's Windows XP SP2. I'm try to make internal networking on my guest systems, but don't know how. In settings of each guest system i make "Attached to" -> "Internal networking" and "Name" -> "intnet". To my first guest system i give ip "192.168.0.1" mask "255.255.255.0" name "server" workgroup "MSHOME", to my second guest system i give ip "192.168.0.2" mask "255.255.255.0" name "wxp2" workgroup "MSHOME". Problem: when in command line first guest system i print "ping 192.168.0.2" packets go well, but when i print "ping wxp2" packets don't go.

If you are going to use friendly names instead of IP address you need to put them in the hosts file.

While I don't know what the ends results you are needing are I can tell you that using the Internal network for the two guests will allow the two guests to communicate but that is it. They will not be able to see the rest of the network & the rest of the network will not see them, nor the Internet, unless you setup a proxy in the Internal network.

Perhaps you should read Chapter 6 of Your VirtualBox users manual.

Sorry for my english. My ends results is connect my two gwests in network (for exemple, copy files from one guest to enother guest), but i can't do it. What i make wrong? (I reads chapter 6).

So with both guests running if you are on the 192.168.0.1 machine can you ping 192.168.0.2?
Then when on the 192.168.0.2 can you ping 192.168.0.1?

Yes, on the 192.168.0.1 machine i can ping 192.168.0.2. Also on the 192.168.0.2 machine i can ping 192.168.0.1.

Than the two machines are communicating. How are you trying to transfer files between the two guests?

First I'm shared folder, named "s" on machine 192.168.0.1, than on machine 192.168.0.2 i try open this shared folder (add as a network hard drive), but I can't see that folder (see screenshot).

Since you are able to communicate between the two guests this is a Windows issue and not an issue with VirtualBox?
Did you turn on file and print sharing in the Windows guests?

How i can turn on file and print sharing in windows guests? I turn on file sharing in properties of folder (see screenshot), am I right?

I don't read the language that you are using but it looks correct I guess. Here is where I set this up (see screen shot below). Also after you change this you more than likely need to reboot the guests.

I turn on "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" on both guests, reboot both guests, but nothing change! I still can't add shared folder as a network hard drive.

Was turned off "Client for Microsoft Networks". I turn on it and it works! Thanks, and sorry for waste your time!
