Windows 98 in virtualbox, weird graphics on launch

I'm trying to install Windows 98SE in a VirtualBox (latest version) and I have really weird graphics on the text based part of the installation, its impossible to read anything there like if something was wrong, I've looked over the Internet and checked if my CD was OK, I installed it fine on a old Pentium I had lying around so the media isn't the problem.
Please can someone help me, I tried to follow the tutorial but it doesn't mention any of my problems.

The tutorials has nothing that helped me, I tried to get it working by disabling every options in settings of the virtualbox machine and got a success after removing the Virtualization checkmarks, then I reenabled them after install and no problemo, now if I could find a download of ie6setup.exe in french but that's anothe story.

ISTR someone describing this before... you could try a search. Vague recollection is that they were adding features to their virtual hardware recipe that didn't exist in Win98 days. I can't remember the details, but you could try turning off VT-x, reduce RAM allocation to 128MB, minimum video mem, etc.
IO APIC can be left turned on, but check out the HOWTOs on how to properly install Win98SE to take advantage of IO APIC (which the setup ignores by default I think). Don't use the Scitech Display Doctor driver - stick with the Bearwindows one.
| Edit: This may be the thread I was remembering. I would guess that VT-x is the problem - I wouldn't turn off USB, since I've used that before with no problem in Win98SE guests. |

Got it working by turning off VT, I don't really use any USB device with it so they aren't needed for me, now if someone could help me with the mouse getting everywhere and disapearing of my screen (strangely I can't set the screen resolution to my native 1680*1050 this is the only OS that did this, with the bear drivers I go up to 1600*1200 but since my monitor only support 1680*1050 a part of the screen isn't there, and didn't find drivers for my screen for win98, screen is LG L206W

"Drivers for your screen"? (a) Your virtual screen is
not an "LG L206W" - that is your hosts screen - you should learn the difference between virtual and physical, and not look for host drivers to run in the guest. (b) You don't need drivers for your screen, you only need drivers for your display card - which is the Bearwindows driver. Just don't select virtual display sizes larger than you can usefully handle.
