HD audio driver for Windows guests
I have Windows XP installed under VirtualBox 4.0.4 and need to use HD Audio adapter. But I cannot find a proper driver for it. For the device detected, vendor ID is 8384 (Sigmatel) and product ID is 7680. Looks like Sigmatel has no proprietary site so I downloaded two Sigmatel driver packs, one from Intel (5511) and another from CNet (from Dell). Both packages are automatically detected by vendor/product IDs but both drivers don't work properly. The 5511 driver is not loaded, device manager displays code 10 for it. Another driver is loaded normally but there are no audio devices in the system.
Searching the net, I saw some complains from Vista/Win7 users, they mention code 10 too.
Is HD Audio emulation in 4.0.4 correct? If so, where can I download a working driver?

HD Audio and XP is a no go. Use AC97, that works without downloading a driver.

Re: HD audio driver for Windows guests
Could you please explain why? If the hardware is emulated correctly, Sigmatel driver should work normally. XP itself has no problems with HD Audio on modern hosts.
I know that AC'97 will work but I need to test my audio Kernel Streaming applications with various drivers and HD Audio driver would be much useful.

Re: HD audio driver for Windows guests
Of course, I used the search but found only this topic. Unfortunately, Perryg's answer is very inexpert. In XP, there are no limitations for HD Audio support. If there is a correct hardware and a correct driver, a driver should work. So I need to know is HD Audio hardware emulation in 4.0.4 full and correct or the hardware is emulated only partially, enough for a default Win7 driver but not for other drivers.

Re: HD audio driver for Windows guests
Found it, the thread posted under "VirtualBox beta feedback" but I initially searched in the "Windows guests".
