Install an operating system from file

I have just installed VirtualBox on my new Windows 7 system.
I am creating my first "new machine".
It is Mac OSX.
I have an OS 10.4 installation disk. But it requires double clicking on the "Install Mac OS X" file.
In other words the DVD does not have a bootable system installer on it.
Is it possible to use this DVD to install OSX ?
It is an official Apple Mac OSX installer disk.
Thank you.

Never Mind !

I just remembered that 10.4 is not Intel based ! So of course it doesn't work.
duh.

You should be able to install an OS in the vm from either a CD/DVD or an ISO file. But Apple's license does not allow you to install a Mac OS on non-MAC hardware.

Yes I read that in the notes last night.
I also read that even on an Intel Mac, VirtualBox only supports installing Mac Server.
No client versions of the OS are allowed. Is that still correct.
We would love to have 10.5, 10.6 and the upcoming 10.7 all on one machine for testing purposes. It would be ideal.

If you really need it, buy Apple hardware.
