No Network Comminication between 2 x Win OS's

Post by pryzm777 »

Gday Folks,

I cant get my Virtual Server to communicate with the Host and Vice Versa:
No Pings/network visible or machines either direction.

I have tried settings static IP's on both with same range and subnets and no good.
I tried port forwarding and no good. I tried NAT/Internal & Host only options no good.

Both firewalls turned off as test and still no communication at all.

I have 1 x Standalone Windows 7 (192.168.1.11) Physical Host PC:
Hosting 1 x Virtual Box 2008 R2 Server (192.168.1.10) Guest OS.
I set network settings on virtual-box to Bridge and tried others with restart and no good.

Can anyone shed any light on this for a blind man with Virtual-Box virginity!! :)

Any help would be great.

Cheers
Ned Kelly

Set the NIC in the guest to get its network config automatically. (That is the default but you have obviously been trying manual configs).

Now set the network option to Host Only and restart the guest. What IP does it now show in ipconfig? If it is 192.168.56.x you should be able to communicate with the host through the host only network. The host will have 192.168.56.1 (for the host only adapter in the host, which is not a NIC).
