No USB - VB 4.0.4, Ubuntu 10 Host, Win 7x64 Guest

Post by waifurchin »

I have installed Virtualbox 4.0.4 PUEL on Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) and created a Windows 7 x64 Ultimate guest. Everything works except USB, which is close, but not quite there.

In VB I have enabled USB, USB 2.0, and created a generic pass-through USB filter (blue ball). The guest is set as Windows 7 64-Bit and 4.0.4 guest additions are installed. USB devices (flash drives, external drives, external blu-ray) work fine on the host. With the guest running, and with a device activated, Windows will detect the device and attempt to install device drivers, but will fail every time (Device manager (USB Mass Storage Device): This device cannot start (Error 10)). The Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller and USB Root Hub are both running fine according to Windows.

I've tried different combinations of filters, turning USB 2.0 on and off, but to no avail.

What can I do to make this work?
