Using VBox 4.04, I have a Windows XP guest that uses 100% CPU even when idle. I've Googled and seemingly read every post I could find, and I see mentions of this problem prior to version 4, but I don't think that I have seen any relating to 4.x.
I have tried setting core affinity, different NICs, IO/APIC settings, single CPU settings, etc to no avail.
This was a physical Windows XP machine that was converted to a VMDK.
What's interesting is that I have a number of other machines converted the same way without any issues.
Has anyone else seen this issue?

Re: Idle Windows XP guest at 100% CPU
Still conversion does bring its own baggage. Try to isolated it down by shutting off 3D/2D, audio, USB, Serial, and Network one-at-a-time to see if you can isolate it. Also is it the hosts CPU that shows 100% or the guests or both? Also do you see any devices in the device manager that has a mark telling you is is causing problems?
