WIN7 host, FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted

I have tried different combinations of using my Host Drive to boot from e:\ (dvdrom) which contains the winxp bootable media which also contains the autorun.inf
-In this case, I power on the new VM and I can hear it accessing my host dvdrom drive, it reads it but errors with the above.

I've also tried just pointing directly to the ISO to boot from as well and I get an immediate error.

Here's a screen shot of my storage settings:

TIA!

Can we assume that this is the official Windows install CD?
If so then the media must be damaged.

Check your VM's boot order. Is the CD drive listed before the hard disk

Shouldn't matter, if the VDI is empty, it will just skip the HDD boot and continue to check the other boot devices.

The only thing I can say about this, is that the ISO isn't bootable.

Make sure you have the host drive selected in the VM.

This is the first time its started up, i havn't done anything so i don't understand what kind of hardware change has happened.

Either it's a configuration problem (e.g. you enabled the ICH chipset setting, set it back to PIIX) or you use an OEM disc which is build for your bare metal hardware and will fail when it's tried to install on other hardware.
