Installing 1st time, with Redhat Linux 6 and XP

Post by dawicki »

Hi, New to installing Virtualbox, I have 57232 MB on the laptop, I used 28114 MB for windows, left 28113 MB free, installed virtualbox - I think i took the default size, 8MB? I wasn't sure that was correct for sure, installed Redhat 6, partitioned with the "free space" set as a Virtual Machine - probably should have installed as a Basic Server, it came up only in text mode, I wanted the Gnome GUI... Any advice on this, I appreciate it. I'm studying for the RHCSA and need to set up the dual environment for preparing.

We don't particularly help with the installation of a Linux Guest. The installation clearly shows what to install and what not. If you didn't select a graphical environment to install during setup, you end up with a command line installation. Perhaps a 'yum install gnome-desktop' does the trick? Plenty of help on Google ;).
