Audio driver for XP OS

Hi, I've installed an unattended edition of WindowsXP (AKA: Falcor or AKA: Light)

This OS has NO driver at all (the size of it is about 140 MB on CD and 500 MB on HD).

I could install the ethernet driver (it was on the cd "Guest Additions"), but I couldn't get the driver for the audio / sound card.

Can someone help me with this? At least, the name of the emulate audio / sound hardware.

Thanks ;)

ps:
I've a suggestion to make, and I do not know if this is the right place, sorry for the further inconveniences.

It really take me A LOT of time to realize that the driver for my "emulate hardware" (the ehternet board) was in the "Guest additions" CD.
Maybe, you should post in some where the emulate hardware (I couldn't find this either) or post in some where the drivers for all your hardware.

Sorry again for the inconveniences[again].

Hi, you might try and change from Null to windows sound direct in the vm setup. fixed mine.

After a long search I have found a good driver for virtualbox somewhere on driverguild. The soundcard name is Intel82801AA. But this site is a complete crap. I can post a link to the driver here if you ask.
Another solution can be using Sound Blaster 16 soundcard. Its driver can be found on the Creative site normally.

Thanks asashnov, these drivers worked perfectly for me. I was using a VM that originally ran under MS Virtual PC but under Virtual Box 4.0.4 it would play sound but only for about 1/4 of a second for each sound and then stop. Once I changed from the AC97 driver it already had to the one you posted, the sound started working perfectly.

Just FYI in case anyone else needs this, the one that did not work right was "Intel(r) AC'97 Audio Controller - SigmaTel Codec" and I replaced that with the one you provide above which shows as "Intel(r) 82801AA AC'97 Controller" and that one works perfectly.

Hi, could someone tell me how to install this file?
I'm running a similar version of XP SP3 that is quite light and came with no drivers.
I did however, it networking to work with the additions.
I have downloaded a few audio drivers (the ac97 drivers/soundblaster) but mid way through install, the XP OS restarts.
Anyone have any suggestions to get around this?

After a few hours of lateral thinking, I have gotten the audio on XP work.
Thank you asashnov for that file, as without it, I would still be racking my brains over the install.

XP should have it build in as noted above. If it doesn't, you're running a modified XP and we don't support those here. When you want to run such version, you're on your own. I'm therefore locking this thread.
