Hi,
is that possible to connect to the guest machine via VNC protocol? I'm not talking about setting up VNC server on guest OS and port forwarding in VBox, just connecting "directly" (like, I guess, RDP does).

Yes, but if you don't have the VNC server on the guest how do imagine it would work?

Did you know, you can also do a RDP to the quest and you don't need to install any software?

Perry, I suspect he wants to know if there is a built-in VNC server in Virtualbox, like Virtualbox's built-in RDP server (which is independent of the guest's remote capabilities, if I understand right).

Well the OPs question is really wide open to speculation because it is so open ended it is really hard to tell. Not to mention that we have no idea what the host or guest/s actually are.

VirtualBox does not support VNC natively, unless you compile it yourself with VNC support or their Distro added it.
Also for RDP to work on the guest it would also need to support RDP. Windows should have it native but Linux still requires the VNC server active in the guest with translators for RDP.
vRDP now vRDE is built into the distributed version of VirtualBox as long as you use the PUEL version or add the Extension Pack for Versions => 4.0.*, but here again that is not what I got from the question since the OP specifically wanted VNC support.

I guess we will need to wait for input from the OP on exactly they really want.
