Host: Fedora 14, Guest: Windows 7 32bit pro, Virtualbox: 3.2.12 r68302 PUEL
Trying to install guest additions (version 3.2.12). Have tried many options but always get this error:
ERROR (000036b1): The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.
ERROE: Could not install files for Windows 2000 / XP / Vista! Installation aborted.
Further up the error log file I noticed this:
Handled windows version: vista
I'm using Windows 7 so I assume this is the problem. I've also tried the same using virtaloox 4.0.2 but get the same error.
I've been googling for solutions and trying everything I can think of but cannot get this to work. I run a Windows 7 64bit virtual guest on the same host and it's just fine.
Thank you.

Post the error log (as an attachment) that it tells you to look at. Did you run the command that it tells you to and what did it say?
